This is based on the record that before the 16th and 17th century Dutch traders brought the giant rabbit from Argentina to Europe and cultivate them. Official records of this type have its own new in 1860. Before spreading to the whole world like today, the Flemish giant rabbit was originally developed in England only to meet the demand for rabbit meat in the country. This had also carried out in Indonesia where the Dutch government th.1981 bring this rabbit as a gift to President Suharto to improve nutrition in rural communities. But this effort failed completely.
General characteristics of Flemish giant is:
- Which has a body length (more than 20 inch/50, 8 cm for an adult), thick-boned, and full chest.
- Head large, long ears and thick, and standing (long ear inch/15 not less than 6 cm for the adults), and possessed great legs, long and sturdy.
- Colors of the Flemish giant rabbit that recognized is black, blue, brown, light yellow (Fawn), abu2 light, such as sand (sandy), abu2 iron (steel gray), and white. So there is no Flemish giant rabbit who has a broken color (two or three colors in one body).
- Minimum weight as an adult is 6.3 kg, so the more weight the better. According to existing records which weigh up to 12 kg.
